Miccostumes: ML Ladybug [Cosplay Review]

Hi everyone! I’ll be HONESTLY reviewing Miccostumes‘ Ladybug cosplay from Miraculous Ladybug.

Service: So this cosplay comes with three parts to the outfit. The suit, mask, and lucky charm bag. When the cosplay arrived, however, I was missing the bag. Immediately, I emailed Miccostumes about the missing component and they responded very quickly, apologized for not having included it, and shipped out a new bag. I was pretty impressed by the quick communication and their readiness to solve the problem.

Bag: Although I asked to have the bag sent (since I did pay for it), I will probably end up making my own Lucky Charm to go with the outfit in the long run. Since I haven’t received the bag yet, I can’t say much about the quality of it, but based on the picture they have on their website, I have a different idea of how I want to make it. The green phone image on the front of the bag is cute but it’s not actually on the bag(Yo-Yo? Lucky Charm?) at all times in the show. Also the string that allows you to attach the bag around your waist doesn’t seem removable so you wouldn’t be able to hold the bag for certain photos.

Mask: As for the mask that comes with the outfit, it’s made out of some kind of pleather material that I felt didn’t look right when I tried it on. Because of the material it’s made from, it lays across your face as opposed to hugging the bridge of your nose and pressing onto your face like superhero masks typically do. So I decided to skip using the mask the outfit came with and opted for painting the mask onto my face instead. I think doing so really pulled the outfit together.

Suit: The suit is similar to any kind of spandex lycra Zentai Suit. It is stated on their website that the material is lycra so I was well aware of what it would feel like. Please keep in mind that this is the material of the suit before you buy it and whether that is something you’re okay with. The biggest downside with this material is that the more it stretches, the more see through the outfit will be. I noticed this in the areas that my body filled out more but it wasn’t so much that it would be noticeable from afar.

The suit is pretty comfortable to wear. Definitely keep height in mind when ordering a suit like this. If your height measurements don’t fit right, then certain parts of the suit may seem lower or longer than it’s meant to fit. I’m 5’ 3” and ordered a size Small which fit me perfectly.

Collar: The collar of the suit is a little loose on me. Not too much that it’s a problem but it won’t appear skin tight as it does on Ladybug in the show. It don’t believe I have an abnormally small neck so I think that it just runs a bit on the larger side.

Hands: Since this is a zentai suit, your hands are completely covered in fabric. Fortunately, I discovered I was still able to use my phone because the fabric is pretty thin. I was a bit disappointed with the way the hand of the suit was made. It’s very blocky as opposed to fitting snug around your fingers like a glove, so I’m hesitant to ever make my hands more prominent in pictures because of the strange way they look.

Feet: Another major thing to consider with this outfit is that the feet is just the lycra fabric. This isn’t the kind of material you want to be walking around outside or on hard floors with for long periods of time. I could see it being heavily damaged rather quickly. I would definitely suggest attaching shoe soles to the bottom of the feet or just wearing shoes when you’ll be walking around in this outfit to avoid any ripping.

Final Thoughts: I bought this outfit on sale for $36.00 which is a price you absolutely can’t beat for what you get. I would have definitely been more hesitant, however, if the price was higher by any significant amount. Despite a few flaws, some of which are easily fixable, the overall quality of this cosplay is pretty good. It definitely looks great in pictures if it’s not overly stretched and I was impressed by the communication on Miccostumes end. I would definitely look into buying more from them in the future.
